Get it? Get it? No? Okay. Bad puns are kind of my thing. So when we decided on this week’s recipe, I had to share one. Nachos are the perfect snack at any time of the day. Don’t even get me started on guac. We talk about the perfect combo that is vanilla and chocolate, but they have nothing on nachos and guacamole. This Mexican inspired snack is equal parts sweet, creamy, salty, and spicy. And if I need to sell you on it some more, it's vegan so we can argue it’s a healthier snack. For the nachos you’ll need; 1 cup maize flour ½ cup all-purpose flour 1tsp chilli powder 1 tsp turmeric 1tbsp cooking oil ½ tsp salt Warm water Add the above ingredients in a bowl, mix in with the water to create a firm dough.

Roll the dough out on a surface until it’s to a manageable thickness. Poke holes using a fork to avoid puffing up. Using a pizza cutter, cut up the dough into small diamond shapes.

Heat up cooking oil in a deep pan. Once brought to temperature, deep fry the pieces of dough in batches. Once they turn brown, drain oil. And your nacho chips are done. For the guac; 1 ripe avocado ½ tsp salt ½ tsp chilli Juice from one lemon 1 garlic clove 1 tomato ¼ onion In a bowl, lightly mash the avocado with a masher. If not at hand, you can use a fork. (I like mine chunky but you can choose your preferred consistency)

Add in the salt, chilli and lemon juice. Pulse the tomato, onion, and garlic in a food processor or blender. You can thinly grate too for the same effect. Add into the mixture, gently fold in and your guac is ready.

Enjoy your perfect snack. And hey, if you really want to get in the mood, binge on your favorite Latina series/ telenovela!

Happy eating!
